I realized recently that I prefer outdoor portraits to indoor. I decided to challenge myself to put that into practice with a type of photo shoot that typically needs to occur indoors — and indeed is named for a room in your house — the boudoir shoot.
This weekend a brave woman stepped up to be the subject of my first outdoor boudoir shoot. She came equipped with a full can of bug spray and some fun underwear. =)
I had lots of ideas of what I wanted out of this session. My goal was to turn her body into a work of art. I knew I wanted a flowing white (sheer) robe for the session, and I couldn’t find one that would fit most figures, so I created one myself.
Look: proof that I can technically sew!
(Truly, the machine did all the heavy lifting, it’s a good thing I have a really snazzy sewing machine.)
Here is the finished robe:
I am lucky that I have access to a privately owned, secret location for photo sessions. This meadow is totally secluded on a hilltop in Ridgefield – no neighbors to peek at my subject as she walked around half naked. =)
I brought a tent for changing – just in case. I also brought snacks, drinks, props, and flowers. I planned for a fun afternoon of being creative – and mostly naked!
We had so much fun during the session – giggling, walking barefoot through the grass, trying different things, figuring out what worked and what didn’t – it was a wonderful session. I went home so excited to play with the pictures we had taken.
I am really happy with how they turned out. And my robe photographed pretty well! Here is a tiny glimpse into our session.
To protect the privacy of my client, this is all I will be posting here. But this brave client has given me permission to share her pictures privately with individual clients. If you would like to see more from her session or a copy of the photo book I had created for her to give her husband, please just Contact Me.
Summer is the perfect season for outdoor shoots like this one. I can meet on a weekday while your husband is at work and create a custom session just for you (or, just for him, really.)
Don’t make excuses about why you can’t schedule a shoot like this one. Why? (1) Life is short, and time isn’t going to go in reverse, and (2) Your husband is into your body the way it is. I can help you pose in ways that flatter your figure specifically. You don’t have to be a size 0 to have a boudoir shoot done – I promise!
Take my client’s word for it. When she saw the photos from her session, here is what she texted me:
Drop me a line and schedule your session today. Don’t put it off – you’ll be glad you did it!
