With my husband off work this fall, I suddenly found the freedom to work on developing my photography business further. The idea of opening a studio crossed my mind, and I decided to explore it.
That was two weeks ago. Take a look at how far things have come since then:
The room I am renting is off a lovely new salon called The Art of Body Waxing, which is located behind The Feed Barn in New Milford
Our new front door looks like this – it’s on the back of the building
The room I am renting, before I moved in.
The girls helped me pick out some rugs and a bench at Home Goods (that store is dangerous!)
JJ and Evelyn helped me lay down some masonite panels on the floor
Evelyn danced around while I worked on my new floor (gotta cover the icky carpet!)
Ikea is a magical place! We found lots of inspiration there
JJ helped us navigate through Ikea
I mixed two colors of chalkboard paint together to get the matte gray look I wanted for half of the studio
I painted a section of the wall chalkboard gray
My chalkboard corner, and the beautiful Christmas tree a kind mentor bought for me
My “helper” today… he helped by getting into everything as J and I worked to put some finishing touches on the room
This little sweetie visited the studio today and played with JJ while the grownups did some work
I have loved every exhausting moment of this journey.
Tomorrow I will put the finishing touches on my new space and share pictures of my finished work. This Saturday I will have my first sessions in my shiny new studio (can’t wait!)
Thank you to all the strong, smart women who encouraged and inspired me along the way and the biggest thank you of all to my devoted husband, Jason, for being a fabulous stay-at-home-dad so I can follow my dreams.
Wanna see pictures of the finished studio? Stay tuned! 😉
