A few days ago, I got to spend some time taking pictures at Silvermans Farm in Easton, CT. It’s a beautiful place with 30 acres of apple and peach trees as well as grapes and blueberries. There is a large petting zoo with a playground and a farm store with a florist and attached greenhouse. My husband is working there now, apprenticing with the owner, Irv Silverman.
This time of year, Silvermans has apples, cider, ice cream, jellies/jams/preserves, baked goods (including pies!), flowers of all kinds, fancy soaps and lotions, and an array of country themed decor. They also have a large petting zoo that includes some interesting animals, such as llamas, bison, peacocks, deer, and some exotic sheep.
On this particular evening, my husband took the kids so I could go up in the orchard and catch a few pictures of the trees in bloom. This early in the year, only the peach trees are flowering, but their blossoms are pink and completely gorgeous.
If you have never been, I recommend you check out Silvermans Farm. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon with the family, or just stop in to take advantage of their full service florist, or just to buy some local honey.
